Warning: This story may bring you to tears! When 46-year-old Bernie Dalton was diagnosed with ALS, he knew he had to work fast in order to fulfill his dream of launching an album. He began taking lessons from a singer named Essence Goldman in 2016 to do just that. Unfortunately, the disease soon took away his ability to talk or sing.
Wanting to put her client’s music out into the world, Essence found a way to help him. Along with Bernie’s band, Bernie & The Believers, she performed one of their original songs on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts – right by Bernie’s bed. Just one year later, Bernie tragically passed away.
Check out their emotional performance in the video below, and share this powerful story with your friends.
